Top Chelsea attacker to remain at the club for at least one more season

Maurizio Sarri has confirmed Olivier Giroud will remain at Chelsea next season as the club are set to exercise an option to extend the Frenchman’s deal by a further 12 months.
The former Arsenal striker recently expressed his dismay at his bit-part role at Stamford Bridge and admitted he was considering offers to leave the club.

The 32-year-old is believed to be open to leaving the club but Sarri has confirmed the Blues will trigger an extension in the Frenchman’s contract.
‘He [Giroud] is sure [to stay] because the club has an option for another year, another season,’ said Sarri.
‘I spoke to the club two days ago and we agreed to exercise the option. So, he will remain.’

Giroud is now well-placed to start in the upcoming
Europa League final against former club Arsenal on May 29 after netting 10 goals in the competition this term.
The Blues have moved to ensure that the striker does not depart, with the uncertainty over the club's upcoming transfer ban meaning they could not be sure of whether a replacement would be able to be brought in.
