I’m sorry, I apologise, it was never our intention - Sorry Pep apologised to Liverpool fans

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has apologised to all Liverpool fans who have been offended by the song that his players sang on their flight back from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The song is an alternative version of Liverpool’s Allez Allez Allez song and talks about the Merseyside team’s defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev last season. The song includes lines about the Liverpool fans “crying in the stands” and being “battered in the streets”.

Guardiola denied that the song had anything to do with the Hillsborough disaster or the attack on Sean Cox, the Liverpool fan who was attacked by Roma fans outside Anfield earlier this season.

“It was not what people say,” Guardiola said before Saturday’s FA Cup final with Watford. “Do you think for one second someone could imagine we would give offence about Hillsborough or the guy who was hurt against Rome? It’s incredible to think anyone could believe that.

“Those were tragedies for the Liverpool people. We were happy for ourselves, but if someone was offended for another issue I’m sorry, I apologise, it was never our intention. We celebrated because we win the Premier League against an incredible contender.”
