"If he feels ready I don’t think it is too early." Drogba backs Lampard for the Chelsea's managerial role.

Legendary Ivorian and Chelsea star Didier Drogba has thrown his support for Frank Lampard to be the next manager of Chelsea should Maurizio Sarri leave the club.

The Derby County head coach (Lampard) has been one of the household names to take over the job should Sarri make the move back to Serie A, despite having just one season of management under his care.
Drogba and Lampard were part of one of the most successful teams in Chelsea's history, winning the Champions League along with many other titles.

And when asked about the potential hiring of a new boss to manage the Blues, the former striker believes that the Club should back the former midfielder should Sarri leave after one season in charge.

"I think it [Lampard] is a very good option for the club,"
"He has done well with Derby, you know, taking the team to the play-off final and I think it is a very good option for the club."

Concerns are being raised by some Chelsea fans that  Lampard's experience as a top flight manager is not enough to handle he top job.

When he retired from playing in February 2017, Lampard did some punditry with BT Sport in the process of doing his coaching badges.

He then took the top job at the Rams ahead of the 2018/19 season, taking them to the final over the Championship play-off, losing to Aston Villa 2-1.
However, Drobga doesn't think that people should be interested in that and that his former team-mate can still succeed as Blues boss if given the chance.

Asked if Lampard was ready, Drogba replied:

"So he is never going to be ready, then? Does he have to wait until he is 40 or 50 to be ready? I think it depends on your experience and depends on your desire to succeed and do it.
"If he feels ready I don’t think it is too early."
