FIRMINO SETS NEW RECORD

Roberto Firmino became the highest scoring Brazilian in Premier League history, overtaking Philippe Coutinho in the process, after scoring a hat-trick against Arsenal in Liverpool’s final game of 2018.
The forward had been enduring a goal drought heading into the game having not scored since the Reds’ clash with Burnley at the start of the month.
However, despite Jurgen Klopp’s side falling behind early on, he wasted no time in levelling the scores after he was gifted his first of the night following a defensive mix-up, tapping home into an open goal with a trademark ‘no-look finish’ to go level with his former team-mate.
And Firmino overtook Coutinho moments later by scoring his 42 Premier League goal in spectacular fashion, jinking his way through two Gunners challenges with ease before side-footing home into the bottom corner.
He then smashed home a penalty to make it 5-1 to the Reds.
Since joining Liverpool from Hoffenheim in June 2015, the 27-year-old has developed a knack for scoring against Arsenal.
He scored his first Anfield goals with an equally impressive brace back in January 2016, while his latest efforts against the North London side saw him take his astonishing record to seven goals from just eight outings.
